Chapter Eleven

Demon Slaughter

Finally, it was Saturday and Michael was taking me out tonight, I wondered where we would be going.

Michael got showered and went out to let me get ready and I put on music; happily, dancing around my room and feeling like my heart would explode with love.

At seven thirty Michael came in to change into his suit, I was in the bathroom pinning my hair up; I figured if I were wearing such a classy dress, then I would have a classy up-do to match.

I came out of the bathroom and my heart just stopped; Michael was standing there looking totally devastating in his new suit and holding a bouquet of long-stemmed red roses.

I tried to exhale but the sight of him had completely taken my breath away.

He was so dashingly handsome, much better than any leading man in any movie ever made, when you describe him as movie star handsome it was doing him a great disservice; he was so much better.

He handed me the roses and surveyed my look in appreciation, letting out a long whistle.

He twirled me around very slowly; taking in every inch of me. “You look so beautiful, Angel, legs for days.”

He leant into my exposed neck and kissed the back of it gently, sending shivers down my spine.

“I love your hair up like that, I like to see your tempting neck,” he said with a wicked glint in his bright amethyst eyes, and I laughed.

“And you, my dashing vampire, look more gorgeous than anyone has a right to look.”

I put my roses in a vase with some water; I would sort them properly tomorrow.

“Thank you for the roses, I love them; they’re so romantic.” I smiled at him.

“OK, my fallen Angel, are you ready to go?”

“Yes; I am your prisoner, take me where you will my romantic immortal prince.”

He took my hand, and we went downstairs and out to the newly polished Lamborghini.

We drove into Glasgow singing along to Mr Brightside, both of us feeling so free, alive, and happy.

He stopped the car at an in shot of the river Clyde in the city centre and I wondered if we were taking a water taxi to somewhere upriver.

Once we got out of the car and walked to the river edge however, I knew it wasn’t a water taxi, I was looking at a beautiful white boat, lit up in the faded daylight by romantic lamps draped around the sides and across the top and a red carpet leading to the gangway.

I was once again taken aback by his sense of romance and imagination; I felt like I was living in some long-forgotten age where men knew how to woo women and treated them with respect and consideration.

An olden day king could not have courted his future queen better than Michael was with me.

When we got on the deck of the boat, I saw a table filled with candles and set for eating; there was champagne cooling in an ice bucket and love songs playing in the background.
